xbox not detecting ethernet cable

my xbox is not detecting my ethernet cable. everytime i click wired connection it says: for wired connection an ethernet cablbe needs to be pulged in at the console and router or modem. my connnection worked before, now suddenly it stopped working. i tested the cable on my computer and it works, the xbox is just not detecting  it.

I would say you need to call support and get your console repaired due to a non-functioning ethernet jack.

If you've tried different cables and tried different ports on your router and modem then its very very likely that the Ethernet port is faulty

The port functioned before. I don't know why it doesn't work now.

have you DLed the newest update? if  so even though there stand point is this new update cause's no problems for any xbox's after reading this forum with so many  things all of a sudden not working right after they updated im not to sure this is 100% true

Did you recently have a storm or power outage in your area. These are two instances than can cause such an issue to occur. If you don't want to call phone support, you can also use this site to check your warranty status and set up a repair.

I have the same problem with my xbox 360, i have had it since 2008 and have had it reparied twice, but i think it is out of warranty now :(((
