Xbox not connecting to internet

Hey guys...

Ok Normally in the past I could connect to live fine--no problem. Until recently I go to connect and it wont connect... so I go to the network settings and it doesn't even show a check mark on the wired tab, which is what I use. So i go upstairs to my router/modem and the light on the port I use for xbox isn't a solid green, but instead blinking... I'm not completely sure what to do....

My router/modem is an Actiontec GT-724-WG.

turn of your router for 10 seconds and turn it back on maybe the router has an update with you saying its blinking other wise the ethernet cable might has stopped working you might have to try another cable if this doesnt work i recommend ringing your service provider.

Well it works fine for my upstairs computer, which is connected to the same router... I've actually tried resetting the router a few times and I haven't had any results...

if you select the wired connection and test connection what is the error that you get? on your router the blinking means that it is sending and receiving information from console to router. this could mean you have a bad ethernet cable, or the port for ethernet cable is bad. if you select the ethernet on the consoel and test connection and it works great, if not post here the error I will try to get back to it whe i can.

'Make sure the ethernet cable is plugged in'-- or something like that.    And on my modem, normally when it works it is a solid green light that blinks rapidly, showing there is, as you said, sending and receiving of information. When I tried earlier it was like   ON........... OFF............ ON....... if you get what I mean.

bad ethernet cable is what is sounds like, if you can try to use your ethernet cable from your Computer and see if it does anything. as well try a different port on the router.

Well I will say, normally it would work fine on my xbox when  I was playing from home, although when I've tried system linking at a friend's house its a bit stubborn... and I have tried putting it on a different port on the router... Nothing  :(

then to be honest, you may only have two options left, it may still be the ethernet cable, or it is the port on the back of the console, it is the cable just get a new one. If it is the port on the back of the xbox, then you would either need to send it in for repair, or you could try getting a wirelessnetworking adapter.

Try a different ethernet cable maybe there is somethign wrong with that if not you need to ring up your service prodiver for your modem and see if there is an issue with the modem maybe you need a new router.
