Xbox Live with wired router connection problem

Hi folks, hope everyone is well.

I have had my Xbox for nearly 2 years now and have had Gold membership all that time.

Everything has been working fine up to the end of last week where I know cant connect to Xbox Live. I have had no hardware changes and Internet on my computers is running fine still. Nothing extra has been plugged into the router either.

I have checked the MTU on my Netgear DGN200 router and that is fine. I havn't altered any port setting as it was running fine a week ago.

Any ideas whats going on?

Are you sure there is not something sinister happening within the Xbox Live Network as a few of my friends are having the same problem?

Would hate to think we are getting hacked like he Playstation Network did a few months back.

Any help would be much appreciated

Thanks in advance

Steve

Try rebooting your router and modem. Do this with your Xbox off.

First power off you router and modem, then power up your modem and and wait for it to complete its connection to the internet. Once the modem is done connecting turn on your router. Give the router a couple minutes to boot up and then turn on your Xbox and see if you can connect to Xbox Live.

Frequently rebooting your router/modem will solve the problem. If this doesn't work let me know and I will try to help you solve the problem.

Hi thanks for your reply, I have already tried this a few times and it didn't make any difference.

It's strange that its just started happening out of the blue for no reason with the internet still working and no hardware being added to my home network.

It says my Network doesnt have sufficient MTU settings.

This is wrong as I have checked on my router and its set higher than 1364 its actually 1460.

This would'nt have changed by itself anyway and as I said before Xbox Live  has been running fine for well over a year and no settings have been changed.

Please see the following post for information on the MTU message.

I'd go along with what it says and if you've tried it all, call your provider. They may have made some changes on their routers on their end that could be messing with the connection. I know I had to have Verizon switch me to a different DNS server because I was having Live issues.

What the hell happened.  I was just jamming mw3 yesterday with no problem.  Get up this morning, and now I am unable to get onto xbox live.  When I test the connection, and then reset the modem for about the fifth time, it says "YOUR CONSOLE IS CONNECTED TO THE INTERNET BUT CAN'T CONTACT XBOX LIVE".  Says my router or ISP may be blocking access to xbox live? how the hell though??? I was just jamming on live yesterday.   I got internet through the rest of the house.  I'm on my computer right now writing on this forum with no internet problem??? my phones got Internet with no problem?? What the hell gives??.....I live in Hilo, HAWAII, is their some kind of xbox live problem in hawaii??
