Xbox Live sign up is currently unavailable

I am trying to recover my sons account and after it downloads I keep getting " Xbox Live sign up is currntly available" . What do I need to do ? Thanks Jeff.

Try to delete the profile. ( Make sure to delete profile only) and then try to recover again. I hope this helps.

I'm having the exact same issue and I read on win rumor that the servers went down on the 21st along with the zune servers, I can't find anything on the xbl forums about it as if the tech guys just don't care to at least inform people as to what is going on, I've done everything possible on my end besides reformatting my hard drive which I refuse with all the saved data I have on it and I don't feel like backing it up again like the last time I dealt with issues. Too much effort

Its obviously a server issue, there is like 5 other posts about the same problem, nothing to do but wait...........
