Xbox Live Membership won't update from Free to Gold

I have just purchased an Xbox Live Gold 1 Month on my Computer and have logged on to my Xbox to find that it still says I'm on Free Membership. On the Xbox Site it says that I have Gold 1 Month. Please Help.

Try recovering your profile from Xbox Live, delete it from your hard drive and re-download it. You will need your accounts windows live ID and password to do this.
