If Wireless, what type of encryption are you using?
If Wireless, are you using a white or black external adapter, or an internal (Xbox 360S) adapter?
Things you have tried: Ive tryed everthing that was asked in the support.
Is UPnP Enabled? Yes/no/Unknown - unknown
Is NAT Type Open? Ive opened the ports.
Any Error Codes you encounter: No but when it trys to connect to xbox live, the bar goes to 1/4 of the way and then an update pops up, when i commence update it says update failed with a status code. Code is 3151 - 0000 - 0080 - 0300 - 8007 - 2741.
What type of internet do you have? Cable/DSL/T1/3G? DSL
Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Eircom
After you run "Test Xbox LIVE connection" and click on "More info", what is the exact message shown on screen? Turn off and on router while waiting 30 seconds,  and then another message just stating that make sure port 3074 is open. It has no problem connecting to the internet but when it trys to connct to xbox live the bar goes to 1/4 way then stops and then an update required message pops up but the update fails when i commence it.

I had an xbox 360 before i bought this new one and i was able to play online but i remember i had trouble setting it up to xbox live so it must be something im doing wrong. We dont have the other xbox 360 anymore.

Look for the "clearing the cache" thing on this site.  That seemsto be a cure-all for update problems.

No unfortuntly this still didnt work. When the xbox live bar goes to 1/4 of the way the update pops up and then fails de to internet. But i have full bars...

When you say "the xbox live bar goes to 1/4 of the way" are you referring to the LIVE connection test? You also mention an update; are you being disconnected while trying to update the console? You can try to manually update your console to see if that helps your issue (support.xbox.com/.../system-updates).
