XBox Live gold membership connection issue

Hi,

Weekend before last I purchased my 1st ever xbox 360. I heard it was excellent in relation to online gaming. I purchased the following Monday the gold membership plus COD Black Ops. I redeemed the code and connected and played a few games. I was a happy chappy. I noticed I didn't like my gamertag and the next day in work I signed in to xbox and changed my gamertag. The next opportunity for me to play was last night. I connected to the system and went to play black ops on xbox live but was told that my profile cannot connect to xbox live.

I wonder can anyone tell me why this would happen? I'm a little peeved as I had paid good money for this and now it isn't letting me connect.

Any help would be excellent!!

Try disconnecting your Router/Modem, wait 30 seconds, then connect it back and turn your 360 on. After that, test your connection.
