Xbox Live Gold Family Sharing not working?

I received my Xbox One on launch day on November 22, 2013. I didn't have gold at the time but I set up my account and was able to use some of its features. My friend also set up his account on my console (he didn't have a Xbox One) just to see what Netflix was like and to change his gamerpic.

I was able to access Gold features (such as playing Online) because his Xbox gamertag was Gold.  I was able to log in everyday and play online everyday up until TODAY, December 25, 2013.

He still has Gold membership so I don't understand. I hear Xbox Live servers may be having some problems. I don't mind paying for a Xbox Live subscription but I want to clear things up as to why things aren't working with my account.

If anyone has any information on this that would be great, thanks.

Did your friend get an Xbox One for Christmas?  If so, he may have set it up as his home console which will remove Gold sharing from your console.

Did this solve your problem?

Thanks for your feedback.

If he logs in on your Xbox One, all other players can also use Xbox Live Gold features.

Or if he set your Xbox One to HOME console. Then he does not be logged in. All players have access to his games and gold services.

BUT if he goes to other Xbox One console and set it HOME console. Then you do not have access anymore to gold services.
