Xbox Live Disconnects...

Hi,

I know a lot have
posted BUT noticed a few where they say to post a fresh one, sorry if it’s
wrong posting new.

OK,

Been having issues
with the Xbox either NOT connecting when I try and sign in or it will let me
sign in and then drops out of Internet after seconds or minutes, I could be
watching a Film through LoveFilm or just trying to message a friend. The most
frustrating part is If I’m setting a time in the Rivals mode of Forza 4.
Sometimes it drops out of Live as Forza starts other times I’ll be racing and
it comes up that Xbox Live has disconnected. I have tried the CMD ipconfig/all
and set everything manually in the network settings in the xbox and there’s no
change, tried resetting the Modem and the Xbox settings to default, after
entering the code for the modem again in Network settings all came up ok on the
test connection, then dropped out again before Forza was even loaded.

PC isn’t ON while
playing Xbox, hence why I got the 3 Mobile MiFi Huawei E586, as I could just
use the built in adapter on the Xbox slim to connect. Only had problems since
weekend, 23-24 June. No problems Last 14 Months!!!!

Can’t enter
numbers at the bottom,
"Test Xbox
LIVE connection" press “Y” for "More Info”
I don’t have this option as it normally connects after
running the test, sorry. Hope this is ok and someone knows how to correct or
WHY this is happening.

OK, Just played for 2+ Hours on Forza 4 and posted Times every time :)

BUT, When I turned PC off last night I had an update through windows. When I turned on this am It said the DNS settings weren't correct. Had a Yellow triangle over the TV screen next to clock bottom right corner. Reset Defaults on the MiFi and all was well with PC. Then turned Xbox on to do the Google Ping and I couldn't connect on Xbox, Something about not having the right DNS settings. Don't know why as the DNS in IPconfig/all was the same as the ones on xbox DNS. So changed the DNS from manual to Automatic and rebooted xbox. Xbox connected fine to internet then droped as I went to put kettle on. Started downloading Microsoft Flight Demo on PC then tried to connect on Xbox, it worked so started playing Forza. PC Hasn't dropped off NET while downloading and Xbox had NO problems Downloading Dawnguard on tuesday. It seems as Long as I'm Doing something OnLine it's ok. While doing the lap in Forza there's nothing happening and the MiFi goes from HSPA connection to 3G, once lap is done the MiFi goes back to HSPA and saves lap and shows time.

Just typed in the ping Google and get the folloowing:

Reply from 173.194.67.103: bytes=3 time=(shows between 331 & 701ms) TTL=50

Hasn't dropped out.

Haven't a clue what will happen after Flight has downloaded and I turn PC off and try Forza then.

PS. Thanks Arminator for having Flight in your profile, Completley missed it coming out on Demo(Haven't played much on PC lately)

Check if the mobile MiFi router has power saving features.

When you say it stays connected if you constantly ping or download something (i.e. cause traffic to be broadcast), I suspect that the MiFi tries to conserve power and bandwith by turning into standby and disconnecting, if there hasn't been any traffic in the past few minutes.

However, it could also be, that your Internet Provider modified the firmware of the device so you can't turn off the power saving feature (as for the provider it is also a cell bandwith saver, because if your MiFi isn't "connected" to the cellphone pole in your vicinity, more bandwith can be given to those that actually transmit data).

Therefore, your only two options are: Get a land-line based internet connection, or have a pc constantly pinging something (as downloading takes up too much bandwith).

As Mr. Darcy recommends, a land line based connection would be preferable, but I know in some areas a 3G connection is the best you can get. So if changing to a land line isn't possible, you need to keep the connection "alive" with pinging.

Can you try the following: While you want to play, have your PC running and connecting through your wireless Huawei router as well. Open a command prompt, and type:

ping www.google.com -t

(the minus T option makes it, so the PC is constantly pinging Google instead of just four times).

When the console disconnects, does the ping command show you error messages then?

PC Back on and started Ping to google, started Xbox, just done 25 mins on Forza without loosing connection. The only differance with the Ping than before is the time. It's now 69ms - 196ms BUT I was downloading the last time I done it. So I don't know how to keep the MiFi up without having the PC pinging, I Got the MiFi to NOT have the PC on all the time, Electricity bit expensive in UK now.

Hope theres a easy simple cheap fix out there, thanks for help.

Could write a novel in here now with out loosing connection aaarghhh.

Turned PC OFF after download for flight finished. Tried Xbox, signed in ok started Forza ok but 1:32 into the lap I lost connection to Xbox Live. Have set the Time out in the MiFi settings to max of 10 Mins 6000secs, AND haven't had this problem until the weekend. Play SBK Generations Online with other players (Even with NAT Strict) and it's fine until there's more than 8 players and then I loose connection BUT that's always happened, hence why I don't really play online with other players.

So, it seems as long as I'm downloading something or have the connection constant on HSPA I'm fine, as soon as it drops to 3G I loose connection.

VERY Frustrating.

This second attempt to post and had to copy and paste as Lost net before I could finish writting :( :( :(

Greetings, ShaunDale46. Unfortunately using a mobile internet gateway isn't an ideal way to connect your console to LIVE. I would recommend using a constant internet connection to stay reliably connected to Xbox LIVE. Very sorry about that! Please let me know if you have any questions.
