Xbox Live Disconnecting at random intervals

Hey guys,

My Xbox live connection is being rather fickle, disconnecting repeatedly in a hour timespan, then being fine for 30 then disconnecting repeatedly again.

It just never wants to be consistently connected.

None of my other gaming systems or tech does this, only my 360

Nine times out of 10 when I start up my xbox I never am signed in

Hello there,

have you tried to change channels?Or try to have only Xbox connected to the net?

You might also want to open NAT.A great guide on how to do it is here

news.softpedia.com/.../Guide-to-Opening-NAT-Xbox-360-71775.shtml.

I hope it helps.

Hi,

As a test to see if it is a wireless problem is it possible to wire direct to the router to see if it still disconnects

Try to isolate the issue.

Check if it is an issue associated with your account, try other accounts (make a silver account if you don't have an extra one) and see if the issue persists. If it is account specific, you may want to check your hard drive and see if there is corrupt data associated with your account. if there is, delete it and then try deleting and redownloading your profile. (It might help deleting your profile and redownloading it, even if it doesn't seem like an account issue, make sure you keep your items though).

Check if it works with a wire as Shad0wmanUk stated. Are your other consoles connected wirelessly or are they wired? If your Xbox is the only wired connection, it may be your router or the Xbox's wireless adapter that is having problems.

Check to make sure the firmware on our router is up-to-date. I had multiple consoles on a router and my Xbox was the only one disconnecting and it stopped (for now) when I upgraded the firmware.

Make sure your Xbox is well ventilated, it also may be having problems if there is too much dust in the system, you might want to try compressed air to clean it out if there is.

It sounds like it might an issue with the wireless connection in general.  Try changing the channel being used and changing which one of b/g/n is being used by setting the WAP to use just one of them with each channel.

On a computer with a wireless connection (it doesn't have to be using it though)  you can get something like Xirrus Wi-Fi Inspector  running to check signal strength and channels of all nearby devices to get a better idea of what might be the problem if it is the wireless itself at fault.

This happened to me..My profile was "corrupted" I had to delete and reinstall the profile, That should help on that part. The dropping issue could be fixed by deleteing your wireless profile and reinstalling it. My issue was the isp. Mine was doing that and I called the isp and found out that it was their fault. Shipped out a new modem and VIOLA the problem was solved.

Greetings, MinatoM! Do you have the option to temporarily move your Xbox closer to your router to test a wired connection? This will help us verify whether the problem is with the wireless connection as Shad0wman noted.
