Xbox live disconnecting after 30 seconds.

I would like everyone to know I have tried all the solutions on the Xbox support website thing but they don't really seem to be for my problem.

Here is what happened and is happening.

I have my gamertag/gold account on my primary xbox but I also had it downloaded to my brother-in-laws xbox so when I visited my sisters house I could still play my games and watch netflix. Well he left her taking the xbox with him and started abusing my account. I didn't know what to do other than changing my password and having xbox make me re-download my gamertag/gold account. After I did this I got my gamertag/gold account downloaded again but now it signs me into xbox live when I turn on my xbox and promptly signs right back out. The reason I do not think it has anything to do with my router is because 1) nothing has changed with the router. 2) My boyfriends gamertag/gold account still logs in just fine on the same xbox.

The following is the info the thread suggested I post.

I live in the United States, Montana

I don't know my modem brand or number.

Ditto with router.

I am wireless with a Xbox 360s internal adapter.

I have tried testing the connection no errors, unplugging the router, checked my speed, etc.

UPnP: unknown

No NAT error.

No error codes.

My ISP is Optimum (used to be bresnen the network still registers as bresnen)

I am sorry if this is a really dumb question and I am a total N00B but I am not a hardcore gamer I just play for fun like 3 games and it's the only way I can talk to some of my friends who live really far away. I also love netflix. Tech isn't my strong suit I know enough to get by but nothing special. So I am begging you please don't be mean about my tech ignorance. Yell at me about poor grammar and spelling if it makes you happy but please please help me fix my xbox live!

Please try the solution below.

If you have more than one Xbox 360 console or you want to play games at a friend’s house, you can download your Xbox LIVE profile or gamertag to multiple consoles. For security purposes, you might want to password protect your Xbox LIVE profile so no one can sign in using your profile.

You can use your Microsoft Account password to restrict access to your Xbox LIVE gamertag on a console. Here’s how to require a password for your profile:

  1. Sign in using your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
  2. Go to Settings, select Account and then select Account Security.
  3. Select Password at Sign In.
  4. Select Require Password Here.

Now, the next time you sign in with your Xbox LIVE gamertag, you’ll be prompted to enter your Microsoft account password

Have you tried getting a different router? Sometimes they can go bad.

I am having the same problem. here is my story.

So I haven't even turned on the xbox in like 4 months. (my profile is only on my xbox, I have current xbox live)

Yesterday I go to turn on the xbox, and I can only sign in for like a few seconds, just long enough to send someone a message, then I lose connection.

I never had this problem before.

My router and modem are completely fine, the internet works for anything I try to connect it to, except the xbox only gets it for 1 second.

And I have the xbox wire connected to the modem so I know its not a weak connection.

No Idea how to fix this... just surfing the internet looking for solutions.
