Xbox live connection

Why do I have to always test my Xbox live connection first when I want to connect to Xbox live. It won't automatically sign me in anymore it says it can't connect. But when I run an Xbox live test it connects fine and then I can sign in no problem. This happens every single time I go to sign into Xbox now.

Greetings Lil!

Appreciate if you could answer a few questions for us so that we can get a better understanding of your network set up as your networking devices. Please read: START HERE! And post back in full detail (the bits in bold).

If you haven't already, try the following steps up front and let us know how that goes and we'll go from there.

Delete Xbox LIVE profile safely
Before you remove your profile, you have to know the username and password for your Microsoft account, associated with your profile.

  1. Go to Settings, and then select System.
  2. Select Storage.
  3. Select All Devices.
  4. Select Gamer Profiles.
  5. Select the gamertag that you want to delete.
  6. Select Delete.
  7. Select Delete Profile Only. This deletes the profile but leaves saved games and achievements.

Clear Xbox system cache

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
  4. Select Clear System Cache.
  5. Clear your Xbox system cache 3 times in row.

Restart your console.

Go to Xbox network settings and select Additional Settings tab. Select Restore to factory defaults. Press "B" on your controller and select Test Xbox LIVE Connection.

Download Xbox LIVE profile.

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
  2. Select Download Profile.
  3. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
  4. Enter your Microsoft account password.

Post back and let us know if you were helped by this.

I would love to add to taidara's post. You can re install the update as well which this can be the last reason to the connection issue. Doing this will reinstall the update some times the update will install and glitch or bug out on you at times.

So in order to do this follow the below steps please.

  1. Go to your Xbox Dashboard
  2. Hit the middle button on your Xbox Live controller
  3. Go to where it says settings on (scroll all the way to the right)
  4. Now hit system settings
  5. Go to where it says storage and high light Hard Drive (or the unit device you use for your Xbox console but mainly the Hard Drive is the default)
  6. Now on your controller hit the following buttons in this exact order LB RB X  LB RB X

I really hope this helps out a lot.

Instead of hitting the button combination mentioned above, you can press the Y button on your controller which pretty much does the same thing.

xxXENOPIRATExx,

Yea but the only thing you can do with the Y button Is clear your cache which was mentioned in a reply earlier and format your hard drive. Which formatting you do not want to do unless you feel like buying a new hard drive. LB RB X LB RB X makes you re update the xbox so that basically all the errors in it go away.
