Xbox live auto renewal.

I have a problem with auto renewal of my xbox live account.

I signed up last month for 1e and I was told that next month it would auto renew. During the month I was asked via a prompt wether I wanted it to auto renew or not and I said no. It has auto renewed anyway. I then find I cannot cancel this without a call. The links for email on the pages relating to renewal is broken and there is no way to contact outside of phone. This seems to me that it is intentionally made difficult to "encourage" people to allow their account to auto renew. Worse than that however is the legal disclaimer when you call MS Customer support.  " Personal information on this call may be stored and processed in any country microsoft operate". I do no agree to this. I am in Ireland and I expect when I call a local Irish number that my details will be managed in accordance with Irish law. As I do not agree to allow my personal details to be processed according to foreign law my only option is to hang up.

So MS, how am I to cancel my auto renew?

You call them and tell them to cancel the auto renew. That is the only way.

I tried calling.

I explained the situation, after 15 minutes of explaining and spelling my name(at least 12 times) I was told that as this was only renewed today(which is how i started the conversation) it needed to be put through to a specialist. I was told to take a 10 digit reference number. I told the customer service rep I was outside my office and had no pen to take the number and asked if she could relay it. She could not. Fine, I made an attempt to remember the 10 digit number....she then transferred me...where i waited a further 15 minutes before hanging up.

The attempt to cancel continues.

Why did microsoft make it so difficult to cancel?

I work so can not take any more time out of my day to waste on the phone. It took 30 seconds to purchase this,it will take me hours to cancel.
