Xbox Keeps Asking For Password, Won't Allow Me To Connect

Every time I turn on my Xbox it wants me to sign in. I put in my email and password. After I hit the check box to remember the password, an error message pops up saying that my email or password is incorrect.  However, it still allows me to connect and play online, it just does not remember the info each time.  But tonight I had connection issues, and now I get a different error message entirely saying that something is not working right now. I forgot the error messages because I was pretty angry and just turned off the Xbox. I am 100% sure that the information is correct as I just logged into Xbox.com with no issue whatsoever. This is really getting irritating as it seems there is always an issue with my Xbox, each year, that prevents me from enjoying what I pay for.

Down load your profile. That's what I just did. Go to profiles. Then select,  download profile (previous profile) and you should be good.

Greetings SynsterMayhem!
If you haven’t already, start by adding security proofs like phone numbers, alternate email addresses, and security questions and answers to your Microsoft account. This information is crucial to ensure that your account is well protected and meets the security standars that Microsoft now provides.

When this information has been added and updated, we can now start focus on the next steps, clear your Xbox system cache and recover your profile.

Clear Xbox system cache

  1. Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.
  2. Select Storage or Memory.
  3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller.
  4. Select Clear System Cache.
  5. Restart your console.

Download Xbox LIVE profile.

Press X to sign out of your profile.

  1. Press the Xbox Guide button on your controller (large X button in the center of your controller).
  2. Select Download Profile.
  3. Enter the Microsoft account associated with your Xbox LIVE gamertag.
  4. Enter your Microsoft account password.

Post back and let us know how it goes.

I did this but I got a message that says:

"Sorry, Xbox LIVE profiles can't be downloaded right now.  Try again later.

80151011"

Is Microsoft updating or something? The only reason this is happening to me right now is because I tried to get onto my Messenger via XBL and now it for some reason requires a password for every time I sign in.  Should I be calling Customer Service?

I was having this same issue. I though maybe XBL was doing some updating so I let it slide for a few days. Then it started to get aggravating. I surfed around on the forums a bit and came across your post! With the suggestion of clearing the system cache. This worked for me. I still get random disconnects when I try to pull up certain applications like Netflix. But I'm able to sign back in, and not enter my info each time.

I wouldn't suggest deleting your profile until you're sure you can get it back. Heard rumors that you can't download profiles at this time. My suggestion is just try clearing the system cache and restarting the Xbox.

Okay, sorry it took me so long to respond. I cleared the cache and updated my security. Now it is no longer asking me to sign in each time I turn on my Xbox. Instead it now signs me out anytime I switch games, go on Netflix, go back to the dash board. You name it. I am able to sign back in without a password but it is still tedious and incredibly annoying. I am glad to see that I am not the only one with this issue, however I do feel bad for others with this issue.

Hey Mayhem! Have you tried deleting your profile and redownloading it now that you've updated your security? If not, I would try this:

-Delete your profile ONLY (do NOT delete profile and items)
-Clear your system cache
-Restart your console
-Redownload your profile
-See if the issue persists

Here's a guide for deleting profile only and downloading your profile: support.xbox.com/.../profile-move-delete.

Let us know how that works for you!

This just happened to me today. It wont let me sign in to xbox live or download profiles. Also, I receive a notification stating that there is an error with the sign-in even though my e-mail and password are correct. I've tried most of the answers given above, none are working for me. If I smash my xbox with a hammer, will that work?

Seriously, I'm going to sell my Xbox if this nonsense continues. I'm so tired of Microsoft's BS.
