XBOX is seemingly unable to play and read games

I have an xbox that I've had since the November of its release and lately, it's been having issues playing my games.

Essentially, I've been trying to play Forza and when I put the disc into the drive, which periodically gets stuck and requires me to remove the faceplate to help it out, it makes sounds like it's trying to read it but is unable to. Before, it used to only take a second or two to read the disc, now it's obviously struggling.

Sometimes, it's able to read and actually boot the disc, but after a bit, it gives me the "disc is unreadable" error.

Is my console's reader dying or something? I'm at a loss.

It does this with other games too, and they are in mint shape.

I really don't wanna shell out $200+ for a new system.

Any ideas?

Sounds as if you need to replace the disc drive, but take a look at the troubleshooter first:

If it doesn't help you out, you will have to schedule a repair. Good luck.
