Xbox headset doesn't output audio through earpiece

Hi, I own an xbox 360 slim, I got it around February 2013. I also own the headset that I got with the console for free, assuming this is a standard headset. I've never had trouble with it before until a few ago, the audio stopped outputting through the earpiece. I hear voices on my TV, but not on my headset. People can also hear me speaking through my headset so it works fine. I've never dropped it or anything. I always took care of it. I already fiddled a bit around with the settings, at audio settings I set the output to "TV and headset". I cleaned out the plug where I need to plug in the headset, but no positive results. Please help me, I really wanna hear people through my headset again as it's annoying getting the game sound and people's voice mixed together on the TV, thanks.

Try turning the knob on the headset.  See if you've accidentally turned the volume down.

Hi, I already tried doing this, but shouldn't the knob raise MY voice's volume that people hear and not the audio on my headset? Just a question, clueless.

The volume button is for the headset, not the mic

It sounds like this is just a headset malfunction unfortunately
