XBOX Gold code invalid

On Apr 29, 2011 I bought a 12 month gold membership from game stop, came home scratched off the back , put the code in and it came up invalid. Called game stop they said since I scratched off the back to call XBOX Live support. I called them that same day, since then it has been a nightmare with the customer service. First I was never given a service request number until the following week. I sent a copy of the card and receipt to them via e-mail. They never called back. I called to find out if they got it and they said yes, but I needed to fax it in. So I faxed it in. Still no call. I called tonight again and they are still no help. Is there anyone else to talk to or do I still have to wait? Anyone else have this problem? If so has it been corrected?

I know it's frustrating not being able to get on LIVE after you've purchased a subscription, but please stick with phone support. What did they say the last time you called in, and for when is your next call-back scheduled?
