Xbox doesn't display on any HDTVs using HDMI

Sorry if this is the wrong place but I'm new here.

For the longest time I played on a large HDTV then I ordered adapters to be able to play on my computer monitor which is much easier for system link with my friends.

I got the following to use my Xbox with the monitor:

Optical/Red White adapter

HDMI to DVI adapter

Red White to Computer Speaker adapter

The Xbox connected just fine until I played on the monitor for a couple weeks. Next thing I know I try to plug the xbox into my HDTV again and it doesn't work via HDMI!? It still works using the component cables(red, white, yellow), but it works on no HDTVs using HDMI. I have tried multiple and my friends' xboxes have used my tvs so I know my Xbox is the problem. I've tried resetting the display settings and changing different settings but NOTHING will work. Does anyone have a solution? I am bewildered because the Xbox uses HDMI to work with the monitor.

Some more stuff:

Xbox is 360 Elite with 120gb hard drive

Monitor is Samsung EX220

HDTV is Panasonic viera of some sort

Thanks!

Hi Zinnadine,

I been using the cable with the same Xbox Elite and have been using this setup just over 3 weeks and one day last week, I just turned it on and started getting a blue screen. I could still see everything but it was in shocking blue.

I did notice however that in the display settings there is a new display preference just under the resolution preference which was not there before, and I'm wondering if this has anything to do with it, in which I think it is in relation to 50hz and 60hz.

In the meantime I am using the Xbox to VGA cable but it's not as good as the HDMI connection, only because I'm using an older LCD that is 16:10 and not 16:9.

Were you able to find a solution to this issue.

Your assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers

Jason

Hi

Not sure if you have tried this but you could connect using your VGA cable go to setting/display and select display discovery.

Switch console off then connect via HDMI then your console should find the right resolution for your TV.

Let me know if this helps.

Thanks for the suggestion. When  I connect the vga cable and go into the settings for the display, I don't see the new display option, you only see this option if you are connected by HDMI and DVI or HDMI to HDMI.

I have done some testing and I'm positive it's a OS software issue, where the new display settings for the XBOX OS, is not recognising the right refresh rate for my monitor, where in the past it would automatically pick it up. I've even tried reseting the graphics card on the XBOX which is restarting the XBOX and holding down the right trigger and the Y button.

I might give XBOX support team a call.

Thanks for the reply though.

Regards

Hey there - have you tried a different cable yet? That has been known to solve these issues. :)

I will try that, if contact supporting fails. In Australia they rip us off with the price of a HDMI to DVI cable. They cost around $40.

@jasonr71

Go to Monoprice to get a new cable/adapter. This here is all you need and then you can use any HDMI cable. They offer really cheap cables that are of good quality and they ship to Australia.
