Xbox Connects to Live but Profile Won't

When I turn on my Xbox, my profile auto-loads, but will not connect to live. When I try to connect, it says there was an error with my network connection and that I should test the connection. I tested the connection and everything went through properly (open NAT and everything). It says I'm connected to xbox live without any problems. But when I try to connect to Live with my profile, I get the message again that there is an error in connecting to live, and that I should check my network connection. This is a continuous loop. I have tried restarting the xbox and router both. I do not have a 2nd Live account that I can try to connect with. My only other idea is that my subscription has expired, but I assume it would tell me in a different way.  Any ideas?
