xbox 360 turning self on and trays opening and closing every 20 minutes

my xbox 360 keeps turning itself on whenever it feels like it. i had to unplug the power supply to make it stop. once i get it to stop doing that if i put a game in or something it will do fine for exactly 20 minutes, after 20 minutes it dings four times then the tray opens and sometimes after a minute it will close and other times it wont close. then it does it at random after that. i tried resetting the touch buttons and cleaning them with no luck. help please. if it had to be sent to service about how much is that?

Are there any fluorescent lights near your console? This could explain the behaviour.

Some users report the same issues while switching on these lights.

no, no lights near it its only near a blu ray player and my plasma tv and our modem crazylizard76. I cant get it why its doing it cuz it took forever for it to start doing that too.

Stage to Rage, I did that I used a microfiber cloth that I use to clean my tv, the kind you get when you buy the screen cleaner, and wiped it off and even the power button and still having the same issue. I dont understand it. And thank you for the base line pricing. thats a bit much since we got it for like 125. :(

It's the ghost of Bungie getting back at Microsoft for giving Halo to 343.  :) just playing man but that is a somewhat creepy issue.  If you haven't tried it already do a full power cycle and maybe try reseting the xbox to factory settings.  Also take out the Hard drive and see if it continues to do it without the HD in.
