Xbox 360 Slim Problem

There was a sever power outage and my Xobx 360 power supply borke, or was fried or whatever.

So I bought a brand new one, and now when it is plugged into my Xbox, the lights is amber and everything is correct, but when you push the power button, it makes the chime but does not come on.

Any suggestions or help?

Thank you.

Where did you buy the power unit from?.

If you do not get any other suggestions it might be an idea to phone MS support for your region.
This is just speculation on my part but was your console switched on when this happened?, if the surge was enough to fry your power unit there is a chance it may have damaged some components inside the console.
Hopefully that is not the case though.

The power unit is from Microsoft. It is the exact same one that comes with every new Xbox. And no it wasn't on.

It's really odd. Because I would think if it fried the Xbox itself, it wouldn't even chime or recognize my finger touching the sensor.

I am still under warrenty and I hope microsoft will fix this if they have to. It was plugged in to onfeof the best surge protectors you can buy.

Plus, my PS3 was plugged into the same Surge Protector and it works fine....Maybe my PS3 killed my Xbox.

Like I say it was just a guess on my part not knowing if the console was on or not at the time, and likely not the issue.

It seems obvious but have you tried removing all the cables then re attaching them?, I know you most likely have. And have you tried the console in a different wall socket?. This is asked sometimes so I thought I would throw it out there.

Ya, I have tried almost everything. Ive even tried different arrangments of the broken powersupply and brand new power supply, and different sockets.

It's just odd. And I've found no instances where an Xbox won't power up, but will still make the chiming noise.

There are 3 support staff, Mister Gwyther, Mister Fitzer and Miss Portia.

All of the stickies in the support forums are verified by them, so if you click on one of those then click the envelope underneath their posts you can send them a PM.
Only Mister Gwyther and Miss Portia are here at the moment so you would want to message either of them.

The power surge may have damaged the graphics card but not the motherboard, therefore it boots up and beeps but does not output the images to the screen

Ya, I really didn't want to have to send it in, but I guess I will.

You would think that the Xbox would be built to withstand a power surge, especially if it was plugged into a really good surge protector.
