What kind of noise? The power supply has an internal fan that you will be able to hear as it gets warm. For noise free operation, we recommend placing the power supply in an area with adequate air flow.

I had the same issues, but now it has gotten worse. The fan will not work and the psu overheats after 10 minutes.

I've had this same problem , the simple solution to fix it is , get a keyboard duster "Can of compressed air" from your electronics store . Then just simply blow the dust out from the front via the plastic extender that comes with the duster , then you should see bunches  "and by bunches I MEAN BUNCHES" of dust come flying out of your power supply (:

That may/may not fix it , but that's always done the trick for me , hope it does for you to ! .

Ahh , well , I hoped it was just dust gathered within the power-supply .

Happens to the best of us ... again , sorry for the inconvenience .

Surely there's a call for an extension to the console end, so that we can put the PSU in another room or something.

Or maybe a 3rd party, *large*, passive heatsink'd, PSU?

Hey Cole! As far as I know, there is no approved extension for the Xbox 360 Power Supply.
