Xbox 360 s E68

Hi, my Xbox 360 s recieved an E68 error a few weeks ago. I know my HDD is a bust but, I was wondering if I could buy a new 250 gb HDD to solve my problem or should I give Microsft a call. I'd rather buy a new HDD for its a much better solution for me. The console works fine without the HDD in. I believe the HDD failed was beacause I charge a lot of things in my xbox thus giving innscuficient power to the hard drive. I also want to know if any of you guys out there fixed this by purchasing a new HDD. I know my warranty went out ironicly the same day the E68 error popped up. Well any help will do. Thanks.

Depends if your hard drive is covered under warranty.  If it's not, buy a new one.  As for damaging the hard drive through lack of power, that is highly unlikely, USB ports can only provide a finite amount of power each so charging things on your 360 is not the reason for your HDD failure.

My Xbox got the exact same thing but I want to know if I can still transfer all of my data from it to a new hard drive? I don't see why these things are so unreliable in the first place.....

E68 generally refers to an error with either the HDD, or its connection.

I've heard reports that sometimes its the console, not the Hard Disk.

You might want to test it before you buy a new large HDD.
