Xbox 360 issues

I have been having issues with my xbox for many, many months now, Sometimes i will read disks but not often, it either appears as an Unrecognized Disk" or "Play CD" or simply just not see it, This happens frequently, very frequently, on average it takes me 30-40 mins to get any game working,

Before you say, yes i have cleaned the lens, yes i have sprayed out the tray interior, i dont think dust is an issue.

It has recently picked up the habbit of not openning the tray when either the physical button is pressed or the one on the dashboard

One more thing, When you turn it on and it comes up with the white Xbox splash screen it can take up to 15 mins to load to the dashboard.

I bought it december 2009 and was told i have a 3 year manufacturers warrenty on it, i have since been told by friends that means only if it red rings.

Advice please?

Dashboard; Sounds like a Power Supply Issue.. (ie. Extremely Slow Startup & explain why, the disc Eject button won't work properly..)

Optical Drive; Just open, then close the tray & make sure the chrome Facia piece on tray, is not broken or loose..

Dashboard, should recognise game & not think it's a DVD etc..

How often, are you online too..?? Do you have the latest dashboard update..??

Try clearing your cache. It could work.

1.Press the Guide button on your controller, go to Settings, and select System Settings.

2.Select Storage or Memory.

3. Highlight any storage device, and then press Y on your controller. (It doesn't matter which storage device you select; the cache will be cleared for all storage devices.)

4.Select Clear System Cache.

5.When prompted to confirm storage device maintenance, select Yes.

The chrome Fascia is fine, i agree it should read it as a game, dont know why it isnt and yeah i do, its online everything i turn it on, If you mean how long do i play, used to be a fair but, a good 6-7 hours a day, that rapidly decreased and has hovered around 4-5 hours a day.

In the last 20 mins it has now intermittently stopped closing the tray after its told to open (opened fine)

I would download your online Gamertag profile again off Xbox Live.. You have to be signed out (Guide Button & press X), then press the guide button again & select Download Profile... You will have to enter your Live Sign-in Details etc..

Well, your GamerTag Profile, is linked to the Dashboard & it could be corrupted (You need a profile to use dashboard etc) & by downloading your online profile, that is stored on Xbox Live Servers, it should fix issues with the Dashboard etc.. Your Optical drive is acting a bit weird & the Eject Soft button on Dashboard, should always work..

Sometimes, when you download your Profile, a Dashboard Update could be downloaded, if available too..

Then maybe it is. I would recommend calling 18004MyXbox before relying on a friends information about your warranty though.

Yeah, it sounds like it's had a lot of use over the 3 years & it's on the way out etc.. The only other likely problems are; The Power Supply or the Hard Disk Drive failing & to be honest, I would just upgrade, to a new Xbox 360 Slim Elite 250GB & transfer all the data off the 3 year old HDD, to the new 250GB HDD..

Sorry, I couldn't help you any further.. =(
