The console, according to NPD, as maintained the top spot on the console charts for the past eleven months, and during the first four months of 2011, Xbox 360 has seen a 29 percent year-over-year increase in sales.

Microsoft said this figure is “triple the growth of PlayStation 3 and the largest growth of any console on the market.”

The firm also said there are now 35 million active Xbox Live members worldwide “spending an average of almost 60 hours a month on the service,” which means that cumulatively, Live members are now logging 2.1 billion hours a month on the service. That’s three-times the amount of usages compared to a year ago.

Microsoft also said it has sold more than 10 million Kinect sensors and more than 10 million standalone Kinect games worldwide, making the Xbox 360 console more of an entrainment device than ever before.

The firm expects 2011 to “once again be a high water mark as the best year ever for the brand.”

It also sent over a handy graph which you can check out below.

These are some great numbers. I found very interesting comparing both Xboxs - Xbox original and 360.

I think its largely to do with kinect being released and being much better than the ps move.

Plus the release of the slim also 2009's mass ban and the release of the slim has made people who already owned a 360 go and buy one.

Are they including all the replacements in that number? How many of those are consoles are sold to peeps replacing an out of warrenty/broken 360? I'm on my second that I've paid for (3rd console had one replace due to RROD) and my mate is on his Forth (small stuffy room means his are prone to dying it seems).

Here's a little more of information released by Major Nelson:

Interesting stats.....

So let's say 55 Million XBox's sold.

Let's say 1/4 of those are on XBox LIVE for a year's subscription at the standard rate of £ 39.99.

That's 13 750 000 on LIVE.

How much has MS made?

£ 549 862 500.00.

Not bad for a year's work.
