Xbox 360 disconnects frequently from Xbox Live since newest firmware update - Port Forwarding setting all good - Fios Internet

I have the following 

  • Xbox 360 S
  • Newest update to public release of Xbox Firmare
  • Xbox Live Gold
  • Fios 35/35 internet
  • Fios Actiontec MW415 Rev D router
  • Ethernet Connection between Xbox 360 S and Fios router
What i get out of it is: 
  • At first it was just services like netflix that would disconnect randomly, video playback would just not work
  • then now after a month i can be in the menu and randomly every few minutes i'm kicked off Xbox live and disconnected.
  1. I then go to the network test. 
  2. It logs me out of my profile
  3. Does the test network connection
  4. see that xbox live and network connection are fine
  5. bring up the quick launch window
  6. Log back in with my profile
  7. 10 minutes later .... kicked off Xbox Live again
  8. Try to log back in but get this error message - Can't Connection to Xbox Live, Select Test connection to troubleshoot, or try Downloading your profile again.
  9. Go to back to 3 and repeat FOREVER!!!!!!!!!
First i don't know how to donwload my profile again. I have saved files under this profile that haven't been migrated. I don't want to download eveyrthing again and i have no clue what to do as Xbox is not my primary game console.

I've been having the same problems since yesterday, and i've been doing all the same steps. I couldn't even log on earlier for about 2 hrs. Wish they would give us a proper explanation as to whats happening!!

Hey Patrick, sorry to hear about the connection issues, but I'm confident we can get it resolved. :-) To answer your question about re-downloading your profile, you can do so by using the 'download profile' option in the sign-in menu. That should not affect your saves at all, but if you're worried about them, you can always back them up on a USB drive configured for use with Xbox 360.

If re-downloading your profile doesn't do the trick, then please take a few minutes to reset your network settings to default. You can do so by following the steps below. Please let us know how it goes!  

Reset network settings to default:

  • Go to the Settings hub.
  • Select System.
  • Select Network Settings
  • Select your network. 
  • Choose Configure Network Settings.
  • Scroll to the Additional Settings tab.
  • Choose Restore to factory defaults.

Ive also been having this same problem. it seems like quite of people do. This needs to be fixed, Ive reset to factory settings, downloaded my profile again and reset almost everything in my house. Nothing Works! Its really frustrating when you are in a match of MW3 and all of a sudden you are kicked and disconnected... Then, Cant connect to xbox live.  Test Connection? Please fix this.

The amount of disconnections have gone down but i think it's something to do with the nature of the new update. It seems the random App Store changes might have something to deal. I'm just guessing. I the profile thing didn't help but after a week it just started to happen less. I had Verizon also replace our router but if i let the connection sit it will just disconnect and it will happen while watching netflix a lot of the time too.

I'm getting this as well.

Can you sort this out please? Not to sound to hostile but all the tech people on here seem to do is ask people to post information, ask for more and more then when they have all the info they just disappear into the night never to be heard from again.

I have exactly the same problem, at first it was just netflix, now it disconnects just sitting on the dash. In fact weirdly the only time I get a proper connection is when I'm actively playing a game online (as in with other people)

I've redownloaded my profile, I've reset my network to default. I even reset my router to default and redid everything.

We are paying for this service you know.

There appears to be an issue with Live in some way. I've had issues for three weeks, but back working again.

PatrickPLAN8 > When you got that new router, is that also the modem? You should see if the modem's IP address was updated as well. If not, try to see if they can.
