First off, yes I do know that there are only certain original Xbox games that are backward compatible. The game I'm trying to play is one of them. I have an Xbox 360 with a 60 GB HDD (tray = silver so that means its a pro). I connected it to the internet once to download the proper update to be able to play DVD's on it (which changed the look of the Dashboard/etc), now I'm trying to get its backwards compatibility to work. It should be updated already, but I guess it's not. My Xbox is disconnected from the internet, and it'd be a real pain to have to get it hooked up.
I followed this help article: http://support.xbox.com/en-us/pages/xbox-360/how-to/update-xbox-360/system-updates.aspx
I downloaded the one it had me download, and double-checked my steps with this article: http://www.instructables.com/id/How-To-Update-Your-Xbox-360s-Backwards-Compatibil/step3/Install-on-Xbox-360/
I put it on my Flash Drive, I checked it's properties and it is a FAT 32 System. Sure enough, it prompted me to install the update, I led it through the steps, it installed, restarted, I inserted the CD... and the same message appears.
"This Original Xbox game is not supported on your Xbox 360 console."
It is Star Wars, Republic Commando. It is in the Microsoft list of games that is backwards compatible and Wiki's, right here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Xbox_games_compatible_with_Xbox_360
I have restarted the console and tried again, same message. I tried another Xbox game on the list, didn't work either. I'm annoyed at the moment, but want to resolve the problem. What else do I need to do?
