Won't stop turning on

Hi,

I feel like I'm taking crazy pills this morning.  I got home from work and my Xbox was on.  I figured the wife had left it on before going to bed, then wondered why it stayed on because I have it set to turn off after one hour of inactivity.  I turned it off.  A little while later I went back into the living room and it was on again.  I turned it off.  I watched about thirty minutes of TV and noticed it came back on again.  I figured this was a sign to play Far Cry before going to bed.  I played a bit, then used the controller to turn off the system.  It went off for a few seconds, then turned back on.  Tried it a few more times with the same result.  Got up and pressed the power button.  It turned off, then came right back on.  Did it again, same result.  Unplugged it, then plugged it back in and it immediately turned back on.  I imagine that, if nothing else, this is simply a waste of power, at something more perhaps a fire hazard.  Any suggestions on how to get it to stay off without having to unplug it every time?

Thanks.

Maybe the switch is dirty/stuck?  Do you have the Slim console, if so try cleaning it with a dry cloth.

I've got one of the older elite models, not the slim.  The button doesn't appear to be stuck, and can be heard clicking when pushed in and released.

Try having the batteries removed from the controllers before powering the console down to ensure they one of those aren't activating the console.
