I have been using wireless on my xbox and it works fine, but i have a connection in my wall directly behind my xbox so i wanted to connect through that.  when I plug it in the router lights up on the port its connected through and the xbox dissables the wireless.  when i try and test xbox live it fails testing the network and says it is not picking up an IP address.  Any suggestions?

Hello!

Resetting your router may solve this issue. Unplug your router and modem for 30 seconds. While doing this, go to your network settings on your Xbox Dashboard and restore the connection that was not working to its defaults. After 30 seconds, plug in your modem first followed by your router and then try testing your connection again.

If this does not work, please follow this step-by-step guide: support.xbox.com/.../wired
