wireless steering wheel and wireless headset

ok so here is my problem i want to play on my F1 game with my wireless steering wheel and i also want to talk to my mates in the party with my wireless headset, when i turn the steering wheel on its put on controller one port, but when i turn my wireless headset on it puts it on the second controller slot which means i cannot talk to friends whilst using my wireless steering wheel, i thought they would be able to work together on the same slot (player 1), so can any one explain why this is happening, and if their is anything i can do to make them work together?

Sometimes I have this problem. First make sure the xbox is turned off. Power it up and when the dashboard pops up turn on the wireless mic. It should be utilizing port 1. Now turn on the wireless wheel, and it should also be on controller port 1. Try that.

after the headset connects, pressing the sync button will cycle it through the controller ports. If it connects to the wrong port, simply cycle it to the correct one.
