Wireless help

Every time I try to connect live using the wifi modem provided by the cable company the xbox won't connect. It picks up the signal which is at the maximum number of bars but that is as far as it will allow me to go. Please help since using a ethernet cable is not an option since the modem is on the first floor and the xbox is in the basement where I live.

Hi Jayson8600,

What's the exact model number on the ARRIS modem? And, have you attempted to turn off the wireless security to see if you can connect then (this is of course just a test, you can turn it back on later)

Jayson, the Arris TM802G is a Cable Modem only, it does not have any sort of wireless / routing capability. This means that you have a router in your household that's giving other wireless devices in your household internet access.

Please reply with the Router's make and model number.

Thanks.
