Wireless adapter cannot be detected...

I have 360 that uses the grey wireless G adapter. It's been working fine up until this morning. Turned the 360 on this evening and the adapter's red light is on but it's not connected to my wireless network. In the system settings tab I'm given two options - 'wired network' and 'wireless network'. If I select 'wireless network' I get a message saying I need to connect a wireless network adapter - but it is already connected and has a red light. I get no other options and can go no further. It seems the wireless adapter is getting power but cannot be detected. Any suggestions? Just to say I've tried multiple combinations of turning on/off router/modem/Xbox/disconnect adapter etc...

Can anyone help me with this?

When I select the 'Wireless Connection' tab I get the following message:

"To use a wireless internet connection, connect an xbox 360 wireless adapter to your console"

As stated above, the adapter is connected and the red light is on but I have no options to configure it.

I've tried to d a network connection test but have no options to do this.

The red light means the adapter is not connected to a network.  It would be green if it was and it sounds like it is dying.  The simplest way to test this would be to connect the console via the ethernet cord port on the back and see if it works.

I thought the red light meant it was OK and just waiting to be configured. If the red light was on surley that means its getting power - it just can't see the networks available...

Hi Bootfit, My 360 Elite had this issue once. What I did was unplugged it from the rear USB port, and used one of the front USB ports and it worked because the green status light was on then. I then reset the network settings back to factory with the adapter removed. Then re-installed it to the rear USB port again and it never had anymore issues. Give it a try and see. Hope this helps mate.
