Windows Live ID won't recognize my pc

I want to change the automatic subscription to XBL Gold but the email that appears, in order to receive na activation link, is my alternate email, which does not even exist anymore. I´ve tried everything from adding/changing the alternate email adress, to sms via phone, with no avail. Seems like changes to my alternate email adress will only take place 30 from now. This might have something to do with the fact that i installed Windows 8 RP just today. I don't really want to associate my XBL to another account.

  It's frustrating.

Actually as you might know, there's a new update and is related with the security of your account:

"Xbox LIVE General Manager, Alex Garden, took to the forums on Xbox.com to talk about some of the updates that have taken place to help protect your information. In addition to notifying members who may have compromised accounts to "add proofs, update their passwords, and, if necessary, contact Xbox support", the following steps have been taken:

- We’ve taken legal action to pull down online posts of gamertags, usernames and passwords gathered from malware or phishing schemes to help protect our members.

- Our Xbox LIVE Spring update included many behind the scenes improvements that help us build on security enhancements for the near future.

- We’re sending unique codes to the security phone numbers and secondary email addresses provided by members to verify authorization for Xbox.com purchases or account change attempts not stemming from a member’s trusted device.

- We’re working to reduce market incentives for criminal activity. Engaging in identity theft, trading in stolen accounts and committing credit card fraud are illegal and violate our Terms of Use. Those involved in these activities risk criminal prosecution, account and console bans. That goes for both sellers and buyers of known stolen accounts and content.

As with anything involving security, it is very important that the individual user take what steps they can to make sure their information stays safe. To that end, it's suggested that you make sure your username and password for Xbox LIVE are used only for that purpose and that you use different usernames and passwords for other services. That way, if one of those other accounts is compromised, you won't have to worry about it impacting your LIVE information. In addition, Garden recommends checking your security information and making sure to update and lost or missing security proofs you may have. One final note is that, if you haven't done so recently, you may want to go ahead and change your password, just to be on the safe side."

So i suggest to that kind of changes right here in Xbox.com with you first email account or in your xbox with your profile logged in.

After confirming everything I'm prompted with only one option: go to the alternate email, proceeded by activation link.

Even adding my PC as a trusted PC requires acess to my (dead) alternate email account. Security proof even from the user himself. Even if im doing something wrong this is overly unorthodox at best.

Seems like my PC can only be a "trusted PC" after confirmation that required my out-of-date alt email.

I'm curious the following info will be removed on 08/20/2012 is your "lost email account"? If is that right, well you have to wait a month until the changes take place, cause how I tell you before, i find kind impossible [for myself] recover an email account that I don't remember the password, secret word...

If not, Where's a Mister when you most need them?

I have no idea. the Windows live ID associated to my XBL account is, in fact, my "main" email account. And, of course, I can log in no problem..

If i think I remember in your Xbox Console you can change your payment options, and maybe from there you can "take off" your Credit/Debit Card and with that the automatic renew will became off.

But I'm only giving a guess, cause I use Pre-paid subscription just because I'm afraid with things like that happens to me someday. Also I'm not so much a fan of a Credit payment anyways.

Well lucky in your search, and tell us, what's going on, and hopefully, someone of the Ambassadors or the Misters with that kind of payment can solve more easily your problem :)

You can't make those type of changes through your XBOX. I tried.

Well that something I mentioned a moments ago, so just wait for 30 days by now, and recover your Windows LIVE ID then, good luck and hope to see you around in 30 days with good news then, just watch out, your XBOX LIVE Profile is connected with your new windows live ID when you make the changes, so there would be no more problems like this one, I hope.
