Windows 8 Shows old Gamerpic

When I log in to Xbox LIVE on my Windows 8 laptop, it shows an old gamerpic that I haven't used for almost 2 years.

I went digging around online, and found little about the issue other than a bunch of folks have it and can't seem to get it fixed.

One thread (http://forums.xbox.com/xbox_forums/xbox_support/f/12/p/386955/2002383.aspx) had the following instructions from an Xbox support staff member:

Can you remove your account entirely from your Windows 8 device, then try downloading it to the console, change the Gamerpic to something new, save it, then go back and change it to what you want and save again. Once that's all done, try adding your account to your Windows 8 device again and see if that helps. Let us know, thanks!

I tried to follow these as best as I could by doing the following:

1. Switch from MS account to local acocunt on Windows 8 PC. Un-link from Xbox account.

2. Delete profile only from Xbox console.

3. Download profile back to console.

4. Change gamer pic AND personal pic

5. Switch back to MS Account on Windows 8 PC and sign in to Xbox LIVE.

Even after all this, Windows STILL shows the old picture I used back when avatars first came out.

Hi Nevyn! That is a weird issue. Are you seeing this old pic as your Windows 8 account picture, or in the Games app for Xbox LIVE? If it is your Win8 account picture, that is not tied to your Xbox LIVE profile picture, but instead your Microsoft Account picture, which you can change at live.com, as well as in Preferences of Windows 8.

The games app shows the old picture when it signs in and shows my profile. My Microsoft ID photo is the correct, up-to-date photo.

Whenever I'm in a game (Monsters Love Candy, Adera, etc.) and it signs in to Xbox LIVE, the old photo shows up there as well.

Not to bump an old thread, but it looks like there was not a final answer posted on this or the other thread. Were you ever able to resolve this issue?

Nope, it is still unresolved. It shows the old photo on the Ambassadors site as well as Xbox rewards, I noticed too. But no, I never received a reply from Microsoft in any form after my last post.

Hey there Nevyn,

First off, I'm deeply sorry that it has taken us so long to get back to you on this. Your post somehow fell through the cracks and I sincerely apologize for this delayed response.

There are a couple of things I would start off looking into for this:

Have you tried changing your picture on xbox.com using this link to edit your Gamer Profile?

If you're trying to use a photo of your avatar, I would try using our Avatar Editor to edit your gamerpic there. You have to take a picture, then save it, then select your gamerpic shown at the top right of the page for it to update.

Again, we're here to help and I'm really sorry that this went so long without our notice. Please let us know how that goes and we'll work from there.

Using the link you've given, I do not get the option to change my picture. It tells me to go to my Xbox 360 if I want to change my picture.

I'm not trying to use a picture of my avatar, so that doesn't apply for me.

Hi Nevyn,

Is the old GT picture that is showing an Avatar picture? Also in Windows 8, is your 'Games' app up-to-date?

I am experiencing the same thing on my account, and the picture that shows on rewards.xbox.com is the last avatar picture I used for my gamerpic. Although on the Windows 8 client, it shows my most recent non-avatar picture.

Let us know about those bold questions, and we can work from there.
