Will it charge rechargeable batteries?

If you put regular rechargeable batteries in your controller and plug it into the console with a USB cable, does it charge them? I'm guessing the answer is "no", but there's no technical reason why it couldn't do it, so maybe it does. Has anyone here tested it?

Answer

Hi there SigmaTheDJ, in regards to rechargeable batteries, no, the micro USB cord will not charge those. If you want to be able to do that, you need to have a play and charge kit. The way that system works, as soon as you plug in the USB cable, the wireless radios in the controller turn off and it becomes a fully wired controller. If it doesn't detect a play and charge kit, all it will do is turn off the wireless radios and pull the power from the USB cable. You can always charge them up on their charger and use them after, but sadly no, they won't charge. Hope this helps answer your question!
