Why does the disc drive go berserk after shutting down console?

I came in here last month and was told by a support poster that it is the fan. It isn't. The fan goes around in circles and pumps out air. The disc drive puts your discs on spinners, homie.

4GB S. Why is the disc drive revving up to bizarro speeds AFTER shutting the console off? Should I be worried, again??

Just had my profile corrupted, again, in part due to this bizarre behavior.

My 360 will do this at times as well. I have a 250gb s unit. It has not affected anything and I have never had any problems with it. My honest guess is when you shut down that is the way the system dumps the extra power it has but then again I am just guessing. So to answer your question you don't have anything to worry about.

I've seen someone say this is because the complete download after shutdown is turned on. No idea if it works or not. Ty turning that off and see if it helps

Could be numerous things.

A)unplug your xbox , take a dry cloth and whip the console down , make sure none of the vents are dirty.

B)replug the xbox in ,  try changing the power source from say straight from the wall to a different source of power

C)the system is not in a well vented area , move it out from the area its in

D)turn off download complete after shutdown    Console Settings> Shutdown

outside of that , you could contact xbox support over the phone , a repair might be in order.
