Where Will the XBox Audio Come From?

I just hooked up my XBox 360 S to an LCD monitor with an HDMI cable. I now get game audio via the speakers in the monitor, but I want to hear the game audio via my Tritton AX 720 headphones, not yet hooked up...

(According to the AX 720 manual, one end of an optical cable plugs "into the rear of the XBox 360" (of the older model XBox displayed in the manual--don't know WHERE it plugs in with the Slim model!). The other end of the optical cable plugs into the AX 720 Controller.

Then the XBox Live communication link cable plugs into the in-line volume controller (AX 720) and then into the XSBox controller.)

Will that setup then override the audio from the monitor?

Will I need any special adapters to get the game audio via the headphones, with this setup?

Thanks for any feedback!

Hey there Bounding,

I did a little digging, and it according to the Mad Catz knowledge base, you will need to purchase an HD Audio Adapter.

Here is the k-base article for your reference: Knowledge base AX720

Let us know if that helps!

Thanks for your quick response!

Now, will using that Audio Adapter cut off the audio from the monitor speakers and route the

game audio thru the headset?

And just where does the Audio Adapter plug into the XBox 360 Slim Model?

On the 360 S, you don't need any extra pieces. There's an optical port on the back of the console.
Will that setup then override the audio from the monitor?
No. Audio on the 360 is output from all possible ports all the time.

Yes, I have the XBox 360 Slim model...

Can I turn down the volume controls on the monitor and still control game audio levels through the AX 720 Controller?

Yes, you would be able to turn down monitor volume without it affecting your headset volume in this case.
