What happened to all my MS Points...?

Question Info

Not sure why my text didnt post in the above, so Ill try again here.

Ok, so I did not play Xbox or sign on to Xbox Live for about 2-3 weeks. I recently tried to sign on again, and it gave me “Xbox Live information is not valid” errors. Thinking that my subscription had run out, I went on Xbox.com and checked this. It has not run out and is still good for a few weeks. I then went on my console and tried recovering my gamer tag. This worked, and I can sign on and play. But when I went to the game store to try and buy a game, it said I had a MS Points balance of 0, same on Xbox.com

Problem is, I HAD 1800 MS Points. 1600 from a card and 200 from Xbox Live Rewards.

I have no clue why this has happened, but I don’t want to get screwed out of $20 and some rewards points

What happened? What can I do about this? Is it an error? Is it someone accessing my account?

Thanks for the help!

Check your download history and see if anything has been downloaded without your authorisation.

If something has been downloaded, it is possible that someone has access to  your gamertag, in which case you need to phone Xbox Support as soon as possible.

You can also check billing.microsoft.com and it should show when and how the points were spent.

Thankfully nothing has been downloaded that wasnt by me.

But still, where did all these points go? Is it a display error or something?

What should I do now?

I believe there was an offer for 160 MS points that were sent by email. There was a glitch with that, where people could refresh the page and they got a new code. So they kept doing that and they kept getting more Microsoft Points.

Microsoft have recently taken off those points from those people's accounts instead of banning them, so that is probably why.

Note: I'm not accusing you of anything, just stating a possibility.

No, never new that offer existed.

Like I said the bulk of them were from a $20 Card, the other 200 were from Xbox Live rewards (like points back on purchases, things like that).

Anything else? I would hate to lose these all for no apparent reason...

Thanks for the help so far!

Fisher227,

[Call up phone support in your region.] If you wish, they will open an "Unauthorized Access Report" where they will investigate and see if someone other than you gained access to your account and made those purchases, in which case, you will be reimbursed. I believe they lock your account during this process though, but don't quote me on that. It is ultimately up to you how far you pursue this issue. In the future, make sure your information is not compromised, if you are sure it was not any siblings that purchased anything while you were away, then I suggest changing your password to your WILD.

Best of luck to you!

Judge
