Westell 7500 can't obtain IP address

I have a westell 7500 router/modem and I've been trying to get my Xbox to work on it.  The error message I'm getting is "Can't obtain IP adress". The ISP I have is centurylink, any suggestions on how to fix this?

Any and all help would be great, considering I've spent about 6 hours on the phone with Xbox customer support!

try setting a static ip address for the xbox.  Also, you may want to call your isp they will be able to help you better because it's their hardware that's the cause of the issue.

Centurylink is my ISP also, and let me tell you its a joke.

Now on to fixing  your problem.  Do you have your westell 7500 in bridged mode? meaning you have 1 wire running up to another wireless router and that is controlling your internet.

If not the dhcp server must be turned off inside the modem/ router.

Turn on DHCP

1.network connection

2.Lan

3.private lan the first one.

check the first option under DHCP.

If your not sure how to do the above steps then call centurylink, they are usually pretty good about configuring their own equipment.  Just tell them you are not getting any ip address from the Westell 7500 modem router.
