USB memory stick lost files after turning off my system

I connected my 4GB flash drive to my console and followed the instructions. It passed the test, and I was able to put game saves on the memory stick. After turning my system off, I later turned it back on and it wanted me to format my USB flash drive again, meaning my game saves that I previously put on there were somehow deleted. I didn't remove the flash drive before/after turning the system off. It has just been sitting in the USB port. Why did this happen? How can I fix this, it happens every time I turn off my system with/without the flash drive attached. Please help.

Sorry I can't tell you why its happening but maybe you might find this of some use.
Its a page that explains minimum requirements and the process of formatting a flash-drive to use as a storage device for your 360.

Its just to make sure you have done what you need to do really (which you likely have done already). Also have you tried using a different USB port?, might be worth a shot.

This is my exact problem. I have done everything that has been suggested. I formatted the stick, succesfully moved over about 10 different game saves, and today the stick is apparently not configured. This seems to have happened with the latest update. I was using a smaller stick before and never had any problem. I update the xbox and switched to a bigger USB stick and now I have lost everything. Sometimes when I plug it in it says device full - which cannot be true as its a 16gb and I only moved about 30mb of stuff over and downloaded 4 or 5 500mb demos! Anyone have a solution?

Hey there Zephyr! What brand of USB device are you using? Was it configured to FAT 32 properly? I would strongly suggest trying a different brand of USB device to see if that improves your experience. Let me know, thanks!
