@The XxGuy - perhaps there is a problem with the usb stick you are using.  Try a different one and make sure its use is for the xbox only.

@DarnedNut - Putting the gamertag on a usb stick is the preferred way of transporting the tag to other xbox consoles.  You can do this by going to My Xbox>System Settings>Memory>Gamertags and selecting your gamertag then choose Move and select the usb stick.

The usb stick you use must be formatted by the xbox first to be used.  Once used for the purpose, you cannot put it in your pc for any reason.

power surges and spikes have also been noted to corrupt specific data files and ground themselves out in sensitive equipment.....don't kid yourself that the 200 dollar monster bar stops micro-surges. Used to have my xbox freeze up on a daily basis (yes, I got a monster bar) but came across this thing called Clean-Volt. Put one on my home panel and since then haven't had a single freeze up.....http://www.cleansave.ca  and check it out yo!!!!! (power bill went down a little as well)......?

@onyx62is

Yes you can still use it with your pc. You can customize how much of the usb stick is used for the xbox so that you can still use it to save files with a PC.

I have bought a few USBs but what a lot of people don't realise price doesn't matter for quality on USBs, to be honnest most of the more expenssive ones (here in NB Canada anyways) don't work any better.  I was told you need a specific type if you don't want problems, a "Type 6" USB but as I don't know much about them I can't say what it means lol I got lucky on the 3rd try and the one I have now is working good :)

Try larger stores with more selection to get the right type,  I'm pretty sure it was a type 6 you need, but someone else will surely know more than me :o)
