Upgrading to Gold Family Pack

My son and I each have different userIDs (with different Windows Login).  We both are gold members with different plans and different expiry dates.  It makes sense to upgrade to a single gold family.  How do we both upgrade to a single family subscription?   Do we lose the remaining time on the existing subscriptions?

Yes, it's just the 2 of us.  I read the FAQ and it said that the all accounts must originate from a single console.  That would be a problem for us.  My son has had an account for a long time on a different console and wouldn't want to start over.  Is there a way to have both existing accounts part of the family but remain on the separate consoles?

You can recover his account to your Xbox to register it with the plan. After that you can move/recover his profile back to his Xbox. I have a family plan and 2 accounts are on my Xbox and my boys have theirs on their own units.
