Update Loop Issue, error code 3151-335A-B900-0F00-C000-0013

Hi, I have the update loop issue.

Background:

  • Xbox360 (older version)
  • Not used in over a year because there were several in the house
  • Tried both wired and non-wired controllers,
  • My Xbox won't acknowledge either (i.e. the circle flash on controllers/nothing on xbox) .
  • I've tried the USB update with the most recent update 16202 (assuming I performed it correctly with steps done.
  • It provided the same update response.
  • I have also made attempts with both the ethernet connected and not
  • No difference
  • My error code is 3151-335A-B900-0F00-C000-0013.
Any help is greatly appreciated!

Does your console have a HDD? If so, try configuring a USB flash drive as a USB Memory Unit, remove the HDD, then try again.

You can use the flash drive you created for the USB update for this purpose, just leave some space unallocated to the USB Memory Unit (one "notch" should be enough). After that, put the update back on the flash drive and try again.

When the 360 cannot find a storage device, it will complain that an update is required. Not the most intuitive ways to inform the user that there's no storage device attached...

Your xbox is getting interrupted while download your update through xbox live.

You may also have 3rd party software on your system, if this is the case, delete/update that.

@Icestorm, what do you mean by USB memory unit? I already reformatted it to FAT32.  If that's what you meant, then I already gave that a shot.

@womble, I can't access anything on the Xbox since the controllers so if I do have other software on it, then I don't know how to access/delete that.

Hey there Tattered,

Here are a few more troubleshooting steps I would suggest trying.

Troubleshoot console software update problems

Keep me posted on how that works for you!

Thanks!

Well, since my controller doesn't work I can't accomplish most of those steps.  I tried the flash drive and CD/DVD again.  The DVD gave me the error code ending in C000-0059 instead of C000-0013.

Hey there, let's try one more thing- can you take the HDD out of the console and try updating from USB that way?  It sounds like the system may be in need of service thought.  But fingers crossed!

Aaah, boo.  OK, we'll need to have that console sent in for a repair.  Good news is that it's pretty easy to set up: support.xbox.com/.../repair-process
