This error code means, that for whatever reason, the Xbox is unable to download the latest update itself.

You could try the follwing:

Since your PC seems to be able to connect to the internet just fine, and is often more fault tolerant to download interruptions, I suggest you download the Update to your PC and unpack it to an USB Stick.

You can download the appropriate update by clicking here.

You should then get a file called "SystemUpdate_15574_USB.ZIP".

When the download is finished, double click on the file and you should see a "$Systemupdate" Folder.

Drag and drop this folder (NOT THE ZIP FROM EARLIER) onto a plain USB Thumbdrive (make sure the USB drive is FAT formatted instead of NTFS, and does NOT have any special functions like encryption or something like that.)

You can also burn the $Systemupdate folder on a CD or DVD.

Then simply plug in that USB Stick or disc in your console. The console should then automatically start to update. If not, you might need to restart the console with the USB Stick plugged in.

That should update your console in no time!

Thank you! I knew there was some way to do this but everyone told me it couldn't be done on a mac. Makes sense to format the drive to FAT. I'm back online now!
