Unformatted HDD after shutdown

This is the second time it happens in 45 days.
History:
  1. Bought HDD the 3rd of november
  2. First time happened when system upgrade found
  3. Second time happened yesterday
Yesterday situation:
  1. Start downloading demos and games, to recover for first time lost
  2. Had to you out for a couple of hours, so left the xbox on downloading stuff
  3. When return, turn off xbox and unplugged from power
  4. Today turn on xbox to see progress
  5. Xbox took almost 5 minutes to turn on (I know that something was wrong, same happened first time)
  6. Check system and HDD shows UNFORMATTED (all lost, not saved games and profile, since last time I learned that must saved on web storage, now I am saveing on pendrive and copying to web storage)
HDD is new. Not the only person with this situation, this is clearly a xbox issue that must be solved ASAP.

Thanks

Thanks for the replay, but I don't have issues with my usb storage. Usb work fine.

The problem is that the HDD shows as unformatted sometimes.

Hey there Ferrar! Thanks for the new post! Can you let us know if you have a first party MS Hard Drive? Where did you purchase it from? Did it come in the standard MS green and white packaging? Also, since you purchased this relatively recently, I'd recommend trying out a replacement from the retailer to see if that clears up your issue. Let us know, thanks!

The HDD is MS Hard Drive bouth separatly from the xbox like 3 month later. It was bougth throw Internate and deliver directly to my home. The package was the standar MS Green and White, and the HDD drive case is black with microsoft logos and informations.

A replacement may not be a solution. I search xbox forums and this kind of error has been happening for a while, there for may not be an issolated problem or HDD problem.

I left the xbox 24 hours turn on downloading again all the games, demos, apps, and turn it off and a few minutes unplugged from the wall. Lets hope that works fine when I turn it on again.

Hello pferrariuy,

Just for added verification, when you go to Settings>System>Storage on your Xbox 360, does it say Microsoft in the "Hard Drive" selection there?

Let us know. Thanks!

It was finally a bad sector in the HDD. I found it while copying installing BattleField 3 HD content into the HDD. At 10% of the process, the copying windows closed. I did that installation before and I know it works fine.

Now I am making a complaint to the place where I bought the HDD.

Also planing to buy a new one in BestBuy.com. I only see Agptek HDD, are these OK to install?

Thanks.

New information: HDD is fine. I did 2 seperated scan with HD TUne 2.55 to detect bad sectors, and after 207 minutes it ended with 0.0 damaged blocks.

Any idea? Any xbox tool to run to detect the problem?

Thanks for the follow-up info! If you are still having trouble with your Hard Drive, I would first try getting a replacement from the retailer you purchased it from. Additionally you can also send your Hard Drive in for repair if it is still under warranty. You can get more info on the repair process in our "How to get your Xbox product repaired" guide. Let us know how that goes, thanks!

Thanks for the information. But still think is a xBox issue. New information that may help:

.- Cloud storage on

.- Backupgound download on (due to cloud storate)

.- When turning console off (throught controll) xbox keeps on (green led on/off) doing backgpund sync

.- If power off (remote cord from power line) then error happens
