Go into Disk Management on your PC and you will see it as either Unknown or Unallocated then format it.

Disk Management doesn't have the option to format it. Only action available is New Simple Volume. On win8.1 machine.

Hi Blowy,

when you set a HDD to Xbox only use (games/apps) it will format ie. delete everything previously on it. When plugged back into a pc it will not appear. You can either use windows Disk Management to convert it back to being pc readable or you can change it on your xbox.

More details about how to manage storage on xbox here in this FAQ.

Thanks all. My main concern is recovering the content on it before. I plugged it in wanting to watch a vid and clicked format by mistake. Did not have the media player installed at the time. I have not tried Grandad's suggestion yet.
