Unable to stay connected for more then 30 seconds

Alrighty lets see how this goes.

I recently bought a Halo:Reach Limited Edition Xbox from a pawn shop.

I got everything connected and whatnot and it all works.

Until I try to connect to Xbox live. Now is where the problem comes in.

My old Xbox has no cd drive, only one usb port works. It has no space for a HDMI cable and it can't hold a xbox harddrive or Memory unit anymore.

But what it can do is connect right upto Xbox Live and stay on xbox live.

But this new Xbox will connect for excatly 30 seconds and then kick me right back off and it won't let me reconnect until I reboot the entire system cause it starts to think that a ethernet cable is connected to the 360 even when there is not one so the crappy internal wireless adapter won't work.

Ps...Is there anyway to turn off the overly uneeded sensative power button?

How is the older console connected to LIVE? Are you using a wireless or wired connection? If wired, you may want to try that with the new console, to see if that works. In order to troubleshoot the connection, you'll need to answer the bold questions here.
