Unable to purchase Xbox Live online or on console.

I am trying to renew my subscription to Xbox LIVE Gold Membership but every time I go through the process and click the "Confirm Purchase" button I get this error:

This action cannot be performed at this time. Please try again later.

Similarly, when I try to complete the purchase through the console itself it says:

Can't retrieve information from Xbox LIVE. Please try again later. 

Status Code: 8016CE52

Is this an issue that only I am having? If not, is there any estimate to when it will be fixed?

Errors like this happen to accounts that are having billing problems.

Check out https://billing.microsoft.com/ Make sure all the information matches and there is no mistakes in any of the information.

Having the same issue. I can't even pull up my account status on the xbox to see whether I have silver or gold account. Going to the $2 gold subscription offer brings up the same error.
