Unable to Connect to XBL, despite correct MTU settings

Modem Brand & Model Number: ADSL2+ (NetVito 5300), Possible model number 061-1318-D90

Router Brand & Model Number:  Effecient Networks (Speedstream 6300), Possible model number 060-F370-A13

Network Connection Type: Wired

Things you have tried: Simplifying the setup, restarting all network devices, re-inserting hard drive, connecting directly to the modem, checking the MTU settings, resetting network settings to factory defaults,moving the hardware closer to the Xbox.

Is UPnP Enabled? Yes

Is NAT Type Open? Unsure, likely Yes

Any Error Codes you Encounter:None

What type of Internet do you have? DSL

Who is your ISP(Internet Service Provider)? Acanac

After you run "Test Xbox Live Connection" and click on "More Info", what is the exact message shown on screen? Your Xbox does not have a sufficient MTU setting. Xbox Live requires a minimum MTU setting of 1364 or higher.

Even after visiting my router webpage, the MTU setting was above 1364. Any help that anybody could offer would be appreciated.

My issue is that whenever I try to connect to Live, be it on the dashboard or a game, I get an message saying that I cannot connect. It's always the same result when I test the connection on the dashboard, too.

Your mtu setting should be between 1400 and 1492 for your dsl connection.

Yes, my MTU is exactly 1492, but the problem is still occuring.

Also, I'm not sure if this is important, but my xbox does register that I need an update for a game when I try to connect to XBL while playing a game. However, when I try to download it, it doesn't work.

Also, the error status report that I can see after a failed connection test looks like this:

W: 0000-000B

X: 0400-F001

Y: 0000-0000

Z: 0000-0000

ID: 0003-0000

Hey there - that error code basically means that there is packet loss. Can you run Pingtest.net and post the results back here?

After testing a few areas on pingtest.net, I got 0% packet loss for areas within North America. In areas like Asia the packet loss was 1%. My overall grade was B, my ping was 74ms , and the jitter 4ms was when I tried a Canada-Austin ping test.

Alright - if you're not experiencing packet loss on that test, the next step would be contacting your ISP to inform them of the the XBL test result, and the fact it's giving you an MTU error. Sometimes that error is caused by faulty lines leading to your home that they can fix.

I contacted my ISP but everything seems alright from their end. I re-ran the connection test, but when I checked the status it now says:

W:0000-000B

X:0000-F001

Y:0000-0000

Z:0000-0000

ID:0003-0001
