Unable to access account or redeem code

HI there,

Gamer tag: DAVIE SPIDER

I recently purchased a 12 month Gold membership.  Only when I try to redeem it on the website I encounter a variety of issues.  Firstly when accessing my account I get the message:

Uh oh... that shouldn't have happened. It appears you've found a glitch in the system.

Then when I go to select redeem code and enter in the 25 digit code I get:

'An error has occurred during the transaction. Please try again later.'

What's going on?  I can see a few threads with similar problems but I'm not sure mine matches those exactly.  Is this a known issue?  It's really frustrating.

Microsoft codes are 25 digit codes not 16

Try clearing your browsers cache and cookies, also can you try to redeem the code on your xbox instead of the site?

I've tried on the xbox and it says 'This code is not valid for this offer.'  Which I would normally take to mean that there is a problem with the code, but given that I can't access my xbox account and am getting the above error messages then I have my doubts.

The retailor may not have activated the card. You may need to take it back and get them to activate it

I've just checked with the retailer and they have confirmed that it is a valid key:

'We've just checked this code with Microsoft and they confirmed that it is valid and unused.

There is most likely a problem with Xbox billing information which made it show "not valid for this offer"

The retalier is CDKeys.com fyi.  I'm not sure what steps I can take next.

Hey there Davie,

It looks like you are showing as a Gold profile currently so I have a couple questions:

1. Were you able to successfully redeem the code, or are you trying to redeem on top of your current membership?
2. If redeeming on top of your current membership, what kind of membership are you on? (regular Gold, Entertainment for all, etc?)
3. If you are on a regular Gold membership, how much Live time do you have stacked all together?

Have you checked this page here? You'll want to make sure that your payment methods on that page aren't expired/invalid? It's possible that you had automatic renewal on, and you had a payment method that couldn't cover those costs so your account's sort of locked.

This would prevent you from redeeming any sort of codes on your account and would also show you this "glitch" message when you click My Account or Redeem Code.

Just a thought.

 I had the same problem, and the live chat support was no help. After chatting with them for an hour and them trying to get me to add another email, (which I already have two) phone number to my security and asking me to take pictures of the card and send it to them. I finally gave up and just decided to return my xbox one. You shouldn't have to go through so much trouble for a code that you purchased. At last I don't have these problems on my playstation 3 and 4.
